Theodoros Stamos was one of the original New York Abstract Expressionist during the 1940's and 1950's. A group known as the "Irascibles". He was the youngest of the group which included Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell and more.

His work can be found in numerous public collections including The Art Institute of Chicago, MoMA, Brooklyn Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Wadsworth Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum Modernor Kunst, and the Guggenheim Museum.
