Donald Baechler's creative process begins amidst a vast collection of popular images and objects, the archives of years of photographing, looking and gathering. His paintings are condensed versions of that cumulative process, built in fragments and layers to create what he calls an "illusion of history."
Donald Baechler attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1974, Cooper Union, NYC in 1977 and Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste, “Staedelschule”, Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1979. He currently lives and works in New York City.
